This poster was created years ago to benefit the Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum as they moved from their original location to their current new and improved home. It is printed with a collection of wood type manufactured at Hamilton that lives in the Starshaped collection, through various layers of pressure printing to resemble a round of a tree cut to eventually become wood type. The phrase ‘it’s in the grain’ refers not just to the actual material but to that which holds letterpress enthusiasts the world over together in their passion for preserving the craft.
