We have had some truly insensitive things said to us regarding intense ongoing GI (gastrointestinal) concerns, alongside the complete dismissal of the pain and consequences of these sometimes devastating issues. For the second in a series of poster books addressing an uncomfortable connection with the American healthcare system (see the first here), we reached out to the public to share similar sentiments as we’ve discovered we are not alone on this journey. We are grateful to have found a few wonderful practitioners invested in our well-being, but it took years.

Gi issues include many things that can become chronic and often unexplained: swallowing, esophageal, nausea, intense heartburn and reflux, gastritis, vomiting, pain, regular constipation and diarrhea, compression issues, MALS, dysautonomia comorbidities, feeding tubes, regular scopes, IBS, and the list goes on and on…

The interior print/poster features comments made by medical professionals. The cover is made up of comments made by family/friends/strangers who don’t understand the complexities of GI issues. All of it is set with a vast selection of metal type from the collection in the shape of part of the GI tract. The paper is Fabriano (soft pink) and the covers are French Paper red. Measures 5x7” when folded shut. Print measures 14x20”.

I’m grateful to all of the people who share their experiences.
